A 43-year-old man was arrested Friday evening in North Bedeque, P.E.I., for offences that included not reporting to jail and removing his ankle monitor, RCMP say.

An investigation by Prince District RCMP led police to believe the man was inside a residence on Freetown Road and possibly armed, an RCMP spokesperson said.

RCMP and Summerside police surrounded the residence and arrested the man without incident. He was turned over to Summerside police.

Route 8 was closed for a few hours while the police operation took place. The road opened again around 11:40 p.m. AT Friday.
