Friday, April 3 is Good Friday, a statutory holiday on Prince Edward Island.

That means a number of businesses and services will be closed, while others may be operating on reduced hours.

Here’s a partial list of what will be opened and closed — but it’s always best to call ahead if you’re planning on heading out.

Government offices and services

  • All provincial government offices including Access P.E.I. locations and public libraries will be closed.
  • Canada Post will not be delivering or collecting mail, and all post offices are closed.
  • Charlottetown and Summerside city halls will be closed.
  • T3 Transit will not operate.
  • Island Waste Management Corporation is not collecting garbage, and its offices are closed. Trash normally picked up on Fridays will be collected the next day, Saturday, April 4.
  • P.E.I. liquor and cannabis stores are closed.

Grocery and retail

  • Sobeys locations across the province will be closed.
  • Foodland’s Charlottetown location is closed.
  • Co-op locations in Morell, Wellington, Souris and O’Leary are closed.
  • Royalty Crossing and the Confederation Court malls in Charlottetown will be closed.
  • The County Fair Mall in Summerside is closed.
  • Walmart locations in Charlottetown and Summerside are closed.
  • Atlantic Superstore locations across P.E.I. will be closed.
  • Brighton Clover Farm in Charlottetown is open until 6 p.m.
  • Kensington Food Basket and Panda Mart in Charlottetown will be open regular hours.

Pharmacies

  • Murphy’s Pharmacies across the province have varied hours — click here for details.
  • Friendly’s Pharmacy on the Charlottetown waterfront is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • Lawtons in the County Fair Mall in Summerside is open from noon to 5 p.m.
  • Shoppers Drugs Mart locations are all open for their regular hours.
