An 81-year-old man from Prince County has died after a single-vehicle crash on Route 14 near Christopher Cross, police say.

West Prince RCMP received a 911 call about the incident on Wednesday at around 4:20 p.m.

Police said in a news release that it appears the vehicle left the road and struck a concrete culvert. The investigation is ongoing and the cause of death has not yet been determined.

Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors at this time, according to the RCMP.

The driver was transported to Prince County Hospital in Summerside where he later died. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.

An RCMP collision analyst was notified about the incident, and the provincial coroner’s office has also been advised.
