Two young men have been charged with manslaughter and aggravated sexual assault after a 20-year-old man was fatally injured at a Winnipeg home Saturday.

Police were sent to check on someone’s well-being at a home on Keenleyside Street in Winnipeg’s Munroe East area shortly after 5 p.m., city police said in a news release Monday.

Officers found Nikolas Bear, 20, injured inside. The Berens River First Nation member, who had been living in Winnipeg, was taken to hospital and died from his injuries, the Winnipeg Police Service said.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at the home. A 19-year-old man was arrested in the Glenwood area a few hours later, police said.

Augustine Bear, 18, and Xaavier Fiddler, 19, are charged with manslaughter and aggravated sexual assault. Both men were detained in custody.
