Will Ospreay confirms he wants to see 4-time WWE champion in AEW

AEW star Will Ospreay wants a popular former 4-time WWE champion to join the Jacksonville-based promotion. The latter recently returned to in-ring competition after months away.

The star in question is Charlie (formerly known as Dakota Kai in WWE). Charlie, a former two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion and two-time NXT Women’s Tag Champion, was released by the Stamford-based promotion in May 2025, marking the end of a three-year run with the company. The 37-year-old star then took a break from in-ring competition, but after 10 months, she made her return last night at Pro-Wrestling: EVE’s event Wrestle Queendom VIII, where she challenged Kris Statlander for the Pro-Wrestling: EVE International Championship. Though the match was a great contest, Charlie ended up on the losing side.

Interestingly, AEW superstar Will Ospreay is a major producer for Pro-Wrestling EVE, and he appears to be a fan of the erstwhile Dakota Kai. This was confirmed when a wrestling influencer on X asked fans whether they wanted to see Charlie in AEW. The Aerial Assassin responded to the post with a “Yes.”

Check out his reply on X below:

Will Ospreay deems major wrestling event outside AEW one of the greatest nights of his career.

Fans have not seen Will Ospreay on AEW programming since Forbidden Door 2025 in August, where he competed in a brutal lights-out steel cage match, after which he had to undergo neck surgery. While recovering, the Aerial Assassin has continued his duties as a producer on the indie promotion Pro-Wrestling: EVE, and was naturally present at the aforementioned Queendom VIII event. In a post on X following the event, Ospreay considered the show one of the greatest nights of his career.

“Wrestle Queendom 8 was one of the greatest nights of my wrestling career. To have influence from so many promotions; British, Irish, European, Stardom, NJPW, Sendai Girls, Tokyo Joshi Pro & (All Elite Wrestling) Thank you to all the front of house staff at the 02, EVE Staff & production team,” Ospreay wrote on X

It will be interesting to see when Will Ospreay returns to in-ring action in All Elite Wrestling.
