Why are the LA Dodgers being sued by a fan? All you need to know about the BuzzBallz drink incident

The Los Angeles Dodgers became the first team in more than a decade to win consecutive World Series titles after defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in the Fall Classic last year.

However, the NL West franchise have landed in controversy after a fan, Jennifer Wagner, filed a lawsuit against the team this week. Wagner has sued the team for negligence as she was hit by a BuzzBall (alcoholic drink) container during a game in August.

Wagner said that the circular-shaped container “was thrown, dropped, or otherwise propelled from an elevated seating or standing area above.” She claimed the impact caused her “immediate pain, bruising and swelling and loss of normal use of her arm.” According to the lawsuit:

“As a direct result of the incident, plaintiff’s planned four-day family vacation to Los Angeles and Disneyland was substantially disrupted and deprived of its intended enjoyment.”

According to the lawsuit her two children experienced “fear, shock, and emotional distress” on seeing her mother getting hurt. According to Graig Graziosi of The Independent, Wagner said the Dodgers should have foreseen the incident.

“She claims that the organization should have predicted that serving alcohol in ‘containers capable of being thrown or falling’ would create ‘a foreseeable risk of harm to spectators.’”

Fan seeks unspecified compensation for “physical and emotional pain” from Dodgers

Jennifer Wagner reportedly filed the lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday. However, it’s unclear what Wagner is seeking from the lawsuit. Graig Graziosi reported that Wagner is seeking:

“Unspecified damages from the Dodgers, claiming that she has suffered physical and emotional pain, loss of enjoyment, and the burden of medical bills for past and future treatments relating to her injury.”

The Dodgers have yet to comment on the lawsuit filed against them by Wagner for selling the BuzzBall drink at the stadium.
