Why is Cooper Flagg’s Appearance on Jimmy Fallon Show Postponed? Mavericks Star’s Unexpected Indiana Situation Explored

Cooper Flagg’s appearance on Monday’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” show was postponed because of a major New York City blizzard. The Mavericks rookie was unable to travel to NYC from Indianapolis. Flagg appearance will no longer take place as scheduled.

The Mavericks rookie was scheduled to appear on NBC alongside Neve Campbell, Tracy Morgan and musical group TWICE. The storm has not only affected Flagg’s chance at television stardom but also the NBA’s travel plans.

The blizzard is affecting the North East and is responsible for more than 5,000 flight cancellations on Monday. Over 1,000 flights were cancelled at LaGuardia Airport alone. Local officials have advised residents to avoid all non-essential travel. New York City has suspended rail and bus transit services.

The Mavericks are scheduled to face the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. They cannot travel for the game now, so they will stay an extra night in Indiana. The Mavs have travelled to Indiana to take on the Pacers in a regular-season game.

They secured a 134-130 win over the Pacers on Sunday. Cooper Flagg did not play in the game as he was ruled out with a toe injury. Khris Middleton stepped up his game in the rookie’s absence, scoring 25 points to lead his team to victory.

Jason Kidd gets real on delayed travel plans amid Cooper Flagg’s missed spotlight moment

Cooper Flagg’s apperance on Jimmy Fallon’s show would have marked another milestone in the rookie’s already incredible first season. The Mavs star has become one of the most talked-about players in the league and being on Fallon’s show would have boosted his popularity even more.

Jason Kidd spoke with the press following the delayed travel plans. The Mavs coach expressed confidence that the delay will not affect the players.

“You might not be able to get there, so it’s all good. I’m joking,” Kidd told Dallas Hoops Journal. “The weather… I don’t know why we’re going to be affected and you’re going to be affected. Tomorrow’s going to be a long day. We can’t leave until the evening and there’s no guarantee. We’ve been in this situation before. Hopefully we can get out and get to New York.”

Cooper Flagg might not play against the Nets on Tuesday. He last laced his shoes in the Mavs’ 120-111 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Feb. 10. Despite losing the last few games, Flagg is a frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year award, averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game on 48.2% shooting.
