“Went from Southgate to Southgate 2.0” – Fans furious with Thomas Tuchel as England star included in XI to face Uruguay
England fans are left surprised as Thomas Tuchel has named Jordan Henerson in the starting XI against Uruguay. Many believe that players like Kobbie Mainoo and Adam Wharton should be starting these matches before the FIFA World Cup.
James Trafford gets the nod in goals over Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale, as Tuchel continues to test players. Tino Livramento starts as the right-back with Djed Spence on the opposite flank.
Thanks for the submission!
Fiyako Tomoroi and Harry Maguire are the chosen center-backs today. James Garner and Jordan Henderson are the midfielders, with Phil Foden playing in a free role in front of them.
Noni Madueke and Marcus Rashford are on the flanks, while Dominic Solanke gets to lead the attack. Fans are not happy with the selection of Henderson and posted:
Ben White is on the bench after getting a late call-up, and Tuchel said that he was giving the Arsenal star a chance to impress.
“I think everyone deserves a second chance. I don’t know exactly what happened. I was not 100% interested in that as I wanted to open a new page. Once I asked Ben if he would be ready to play for me and for England he straight away, and without hesitation, said he would love that and he was desperate to come back. I think it’s necessary he clears the air with team-mates and I think he will when players come back, who were in the World Cup with him.”
Ben White was called up after Jarell Quansah pulled out.
Thomas Tuchel wants England fans to remain patient
Thomas Tuchel spoke to the media ahead of the Uruguay clash, urging England fans to remain patient with the players. He admitted that they will be experimenting with the players in the upcoming friendlies and said:
“Yes, that would be ideal but I understand also if you come, you have high expectations. So will everything work out smoothly from the start and everyone will find his position, his rhythm? There will also be some nervous players there. They will find their way into this game. This will be normal if it’s the case. Don’t forget we play against a high-quality opponent with high-quality players up front and in midfield, they play for top clubs.
“It is a top coach [Marcelo Bielsa]. It is a tricky one. We need to fight and run our way into it, we need to be physical, if not everything is maybe straight away clear. We need all to be patient but at the same time I expect us to play with freedom, to play with excitement, take the chance and not hesitate.” (via ESPN)
England have just one more friendly match against Japan next week before Tucehl has to name the FIFA World Cup squad.
