Tony Khan confirms the biggest mystery in AEW will be solved one day: “They’ll find him”

One of AEW’s biggest mysteries remained unsolved for some time. Tony Khan confirmed this would be solved soon.

Shaquille O’Neal made a few appearances for AEW in 2021 and was even involved in a feud with Cody Rhodes. On the March 3, 2021 episode of Dyamite, Shaq and Jade Cargill teamed up against Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet. Although Shaq and Jade won the match, the American Nightmare put the NBA legend through two tables in a post-match angle. Shaq was placed on a stretcher and loaded onto an ambulance. When Tony Schiavone went to check the ambulance later, O’Neal had mysteriously vanished, leading to one of AEW’s biggest mysteries.

During a recent appearance on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, Tony Khan said that the Shaquille O’Neal mystery will be solved soon, and he asked fans to stay tuned.

“People ask me every day, all the time I get, ‘Where is SHAQ?’ Stay tuned. One of these days it’s going to happen. It’s a good reason to stay tuned. It’s been years but I know eventually that mystery will be solved. SHAQ’s whereabouts when they went to check the ambulance. They’ll find him.” [H/T Drainmaker on X]

Tony Khan commented on Sting’s son’s future in AEW

Sting retired from the ring at Revolution 2024. However, his son, Steven Borden, is looking to continue his father’s legacy in the ring. He has been training to become a wrestler and has already competed in some dark matches.

During the same interview, Tony Khan praised Steven’s athletic prowess and even said he was becoming a “fantastic wrestler.” He also added that the second-generation star has been getting a lot of experience in dark matches.

“Of course, with his family connection in pro wrestling and given that he’s Sting’s son, a lot of the genetics are there. And not only is Steven a great football player, he is becoming a fantastic wrestler. We saw a little bit of it when he got involved in Sting’s last match against The Young Bucks, and he came out looking like Sting, and it gave me the thought, ‘Wow, I’d love to see more of Steven as a wrestler.’ And he’s doing a great job, he’s wrestling in the dark matches and getting experience. I think he has the potential to be an excellent wrestler.”

It remains to be seen when Steve Borden will begin to feature regularly on TV.
