Tiger Woods & Bryson DeChambeau receive invitation from President Donald Trump for an important discussion: Report

Tiger Woods and Bryson DeChambeau are reportedly among a high-profile group invited to the White House on March 6, where President Donald Trump plans to host a discussion on the future of college sports. The meeting, called the “Saving College Sports Roundtable,” will bring together people from across sports, politics, business and media to discuss how the college game is changing.

According to Yahoo Sports, around 40 people have received invitations. Along with Woods and DeChambeau, the list is said to include former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice and Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua.

The discussion is expected to center on major issues surrounding name, image and likeness (NIL) rules and the increasing commercialization of college athletics. Ongoing lawsuits and the lack of a clear national policy have created uncertainty around how the NCAA will operate in the future, with many pushing for federal guidelines or a new system to govern the sport.

Trump will chair the session, while Florida governor Ron DeSantis and New York Yankees president Randy Levine are set to serve as vice chairs. It is not yet known how many of those invited will actually attend.

The guest list is also expected to feature well-known figures from professional sports and media, including NBA commissioner Adam Silver, business leaders, television executives from Fox and ESPN, and former Heisman Trophy winners Tim Tebow and Charlie Ward.

Why Tiger Woods and Bryson DeChambeau’s White House invitation is not surprising

Tiger Woods and Bryson DeChambeau being invited to the White House may sound big, but both golfers already have well-known ties to President Donald Trump.

Woods and Trump have crossed paths many times over the years, mostly through golf. Trump awarded Woods the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019, and the two have played together on the course. After one such round in 2017, Woods was asked about Trump’s game during a press conference at Riviera.

“Well, I’ll tell you what, for a person who is 70 years old, he hits it hard. I mean, people don’t realize– I mean, he’s that old and can rip it and hit as far as he does,” Tiger Woods said.

More recently, Tiger Woods has also been in a relationship with Vanessa Trump, the former wife of Donald Trump Jr. which keeps him connected to the president’s family.

DeChambeau has built a similar rapport. He has played golf with Trump and appeared at White House events including a Christmas reception last year where he was invited to speak briefly. During that appearance he praised Trump calling him “a great golfer” and “a better human being.”

Earlier in 2025, DeChambeau was also named chair of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition after it was revived by executive order. He even teamed up with Trump for a YouTube video as part of his “Break 50” series which drew millions of views.
