“This is weird”- Fans react to BTS’ RM’s remark about missing Taehyung’s ‘skinny body’ during his buff military era on Jimmy Fallon show
BTS’ appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 25, 2026 has sparked online discussion following a comment made by group leader RM aka Kim Namjoon about fellow member V aka Kim Taehyung. During a segment on rhe show, the members were asked what they missed most about one another.
Responding to the question about V, RM said he missed how “really skinny” Taehyung used to be. He added that the singer had developed a more buff and muscular physique during his military service, which he also briefly mimicked during the interview.
“I missed his… when he was really skinny because he got… he because he became around 86 kg in the military,” said the rapper, mimimicking V’s muscular build. “Now he’s slim again.”
The remark quickly drew wide reactions online. Some fans interpreted the comment as an unnecessary remark on appearance. Several social media users expressed discomfort with the nature of RM’s comment. One fan wrote,
“This is weird. The question was “what did you miss about about v? All of the things he could say about tae he choose he’s body build? Like what’s wrong wt u dude??? U could talk about “hanging out wt tae,or he’s funny side” like it could be anything but instead”being skinny “?”
Similar responses questioned why physical changes were highlighted instead of personality traits or shared memories.
Fans kept on criticizing the comment pointing out that Taehyung was not overweight at the time. Some also shared that they loved Taehyung’s muscular body from military era and missed it.
