“Someone fire this GM” “Can’t trust a word”: NFL fans rip Andrew Berry as Browns GM gives clear verdict on Myles Garrett trade rumors

Andrew Berry is not taking the Myles Garrett trade talk lightly as rumors surrounding the Cleveland Browns superstar exploded after the team quietly adjusted language in his contract. Although Browns general manager Andrew Berry insists fans are reading too much into the move.

The revised deal pushed Garrett’s option bonus deadline from the 15th day of the league year to seven days before the regular season. The change also makes a post-June 1 trade easier financially. However, Berry shut that down during the NFL annual meeting.

“If we wanted to trade Myles, we wouldn’t have needed to make a contract adjustment,” Berry said at NFL’s annual meeting. “So it doesn’t have anything to do with that.”

Nonetheless, fans are not convinced and ripped Berry on X.

One fan said, “Dude also bold faced lie and said they weren’t trading Baker [Mayfield]. Someone fire this GM. Why change the option money to start of the year? He is clueless.”

Another wrote, “I mean text book answer… Sooo can’t trust a word hahaha.”

One X user tweeted, “Now I understand why the Browns are so bad at talent management and acquisition.”

“Didn’t he say something similar on Nick Chubb,” tweeted one more.

One more fan said, “Congrats on winning 5 games every year for the next decade.”

“He’s 100% lying,” commented another.

Andrew Berry ties Myles Garrett to Browns forever

During his conversation with Browns reporter Mary Kay Cabot, Andrew Berry addressed Garrett’s future and, in a low-key way, tied the star DE to the Browns forever.

“Myles is a career Brown. He is one of the faces of our organization. I think we’ve been very clear both past and present in terms of our feelings. I understand all the questions. I’ll be honest, I don’t really want to waste a ton more breath on the topic.”

Garrett requested a trade in February 2025 before later signing a four-year extension. He is coming off a record-breaking year, winning Defensive Player of the Year after breaking the NFL’s record for most sacks in a single season (23).
