“She is already on the decline,” says AEW star after suddenly ending Mercedes Mone’s title reign

An AEW star recently dethroned Mercedes Mone and had some strong words regarding her future. The CEO made her in-ring return after over two months just recently.

The AEW star Persephone opened up on taking the title from Mercedes Mone. Persephone recently signed with All Elite Wrestling and is currently under a dual contract with both CMLL and Tony Khan’s promotion. On the other hand, Mercedes made her in-ring return after two months of break, as she defended her CMLL Women’s title against Persephone in Arena Mexico.

Following an amazing encounter, Persephone shocked everyone by getting the win over Mercedes. The CEO’s downfall continues, as she has lost her fifth title in the span of the past few months. In her post-match comments, Persephone claimed that Mone is already on the decline and is one step closer to the grave:

“Y’all saw her, right? Even before last night, she had her screws loose; she is a bit crazy. If y’all said I’m crazy, imagine her. I’m done with Mercedes. She is already on the decline, she is old, she is tired, she is toast. Now, Mercedes is now a step closer to the grave, so now Perse is looking for something new. Also, being Mexican, I might become a double champion. I might challenge for a National Title. I can be World Champion and Mexican Champion. Who knows? But Mercedes is now in the rear view.” [H/T Fightful]

Mercedes Mone is set for a first-time ever match outside AEW

Following her in-ring return in CMLL, Mercedes Mone has been announced for a major match in the UK-based promotion, RevPro, this month as well. Upon her return to the promotion after three months, Mone will take on Alexxis Falcon, who won a gauntlet bout to earn the match against The CEO.

Interestingly, Mercedes held the RevPro Undisputed British title for months before losing it to Alex Windsor in December 2025. It remains to be seen if Alexxis Falcon also manages to defeat Mone.
