Scottie Scheffler kids: Golfer and his wife Meredith welcome second child to their family
Scottie Scheffler and his wife Meredith Scheffler have welcomed their second child just days before the Masters, adding a special moment to an already important week.
Their son, Remy, was born toward the end of March, with AP’s Doug Ferguson confirming the news. The family is now together at Augusta, with their newborn already making the trip.
Thanks for the submission!
Scheffler had been waiting for this over the past couple of weeks. He withdrew from the Texas Children’s Houston Open at the last moment to be with Meredith, and it was clear the decision had nothing to do with injury.
This isn’t new for him either. Back in 2024 he found himself in a similar situation before the Masters when their first child, Bennett, was due. At the time he had said he would leave the tournament if needed.
After going on to win that year, Scottie Scheffler spoke about where golf stood in his priorities.
“I will go home, soak in this victory tonight. Will definitely enjoy the birth of my first child,” he said. “My son or daughter will now be the main priority, along with my wife, so golf will now be probably fourth in line.”
Now, he returns to Augusta balancing both again. The Masters begins on April 9, and Scheffler comes in as the world No. 1 and one of the favorites.
Scottie Scheffler’s caddie explains what sets him apart ahead of Masters
Even with what looks like a slow start by his standards, Scottie Scheffler has still been solid this season. He heads into Augusta with a win at The American Express, along with a T3 finish at the WM Phoenix Open and a T4 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Apart from that, most of his finishes have been around the top 20 to top 25.
His caddie, Ted Scott, feels the difference isn’t just about form, but how Scheffler approaches the game. Speaking on Golf.com’s YouTube channel, Scott said Scheffler’s mindset is what really stands out.
“I think the reason why Scottie is the best golfer in the world is because he’s the most humble guy,” Scott said.
“He gives the reins away to people that probably aren’t as adequate as him… it’s like, I might learn something.”
Scott added that Scheffler is always open to new ideas and willing to learn, even when he doesn’t fully agree.
“Let’s see what you can teach me. That’s a great quality to have,” he said.
Scott, who has four Masters wins as a caddie with Scottie Scheffler and Bubba Watson, has worked closely with him over the years and has seen that approach first-hand. That, more than anything else, is what he believes keeps Scheffler ahead of the rest heading into another Masters week.
