“Never regret your decision” – Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu urges aspiring fighters to embrace the grind without fear of failure


Reigning and undisputed ONE bantamweight MMA world champion ‘The Tormentor’ Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu of Mongolia is one of the most prolific MMA fighters to come out of Ulaanbaatar.

And apart from holding the coveted 26 pounds of gold over his shoulders, the 37-year-old also takes great pride in inspiring the Mongolian youth who look up to him.

Speaking in a recent interview with All About Mongolia, Baatarkhuu had a message for aspiring martial artists who are looking to follow in his footsteps.

‘The Tormentor’ said:

“However, there is no guarantee that you will definitely succeed. But even if you don’t succeed, you might not have any regrets about what you chose because that is something you wanted – it is something you chose. If you choose a particular sport, and train for it, you never know if the results will be good or not. But, what I’m trying to say is to never regret your decision. Once you made your choice, just keep working hard and stay focused on it. You can never become good right away.”

Baatarkhuu was last seen winning the bantamweight MMA gold with a fourth-round submission over ‘Wonder Boy’ Fabricio Andrade at ONE Fight Night 38 last December. Prior to that, he rose to global mainstream fame as a member of Team Mongolia on the hit Netflix competition reality show, Physical: Asia.

Music plays a significant role in most fighters’ lives. And for ‘The Tormentor’ Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu, it’s certainly no different.

The 37-year-old recently shared his musical preferences, and he believes it’s all about the feeling one gets from listening to the tunes.

‘The Tormentor’ shared:

“It’s hard to explain, but if you see my playlist, you will be surprised. I have all different kinds of genres there. I listen to it all – Mongolian and foreign artists. I like the kind of music that gives me good energy. There’s music that makes you feel alive. I focus on the feeling that music gives me.”
