“Need him more than Ronaldo” – Fans believe Al-Nassr star covered for Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘stinker’ in win over Al-Fayha
Al-Nassr fans are full of praise for Joao Felix after his performance helped the Cristiano Ronaldo-led side win at Al-Fayha. Jose Jesus’ side came from 1-0 down at half-time to win 3-1 thanks to late goals.
Ronaldo missed a penalty in the first half, before an own goal from Abdulelah Al-Amri gave the home side the lead right at half-time. The game looked set to be a frustrating result for the away side, but they managed to turn things around.
Thanks for the submission!
Sadio Mane scored in the 72nd minute to level things up, but Ronaldo missed another chance from close range to score seven minutes later. However, the resulting corner saw Joao Felix hit a powerful shot from outside the box, which hit the post and went in off the Al-Fayha goalkeeper, Orlando Mosquera.
January signing, Abdullah Al-Hamdan, came on for Cristiano Ronaldo in the 81st minute and sealed the win four minutes later. He combined well with Felix to make it 3-1, and the fans were full of praise for the former Chelsea star. They posted:
Felix spoke about his desire to become a champion with Al-Nassr earlier this season and said:
“I want to help the team, I want to win games. And, above all, I want to be champion. We had a less-good phase, but this happens in all seasons, in all teams. I feel that we have already gone through this moment, and I hope that, until the end of the season, we will not go through it again. And if that happens, we will be happy in the end.”
Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al-Nassr are now the Saudi Pro League leaders with 61 points – three points ahead of third-placed Al-Hilal and two points ahead of second-placed Al-Ahli.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr teammate not bothered about stats
Joao Felix spoke to the SPL website earlier this year, saying that he does not think about scoring goals or getting assists. He said that he was never chasing numbers and said:
“I never plan to score ‘X’ goals, or [get] ‘X’ assists. The project is always to try to win as many titles as we can. The goals and assists come as a consequence of my work, of the team’s work. If the team wasn’t doing well, I wouldn’t be having these numbers. [It’s just to] keep doing what I’ve been doing; the team keeps doing what it’s been doing. And, by the end of the season, we’ll see where we are.”
Joao Felix has scored 13 goals in 24 SPL matches, while Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 21 in 22 matches.
