“Mohammed Siraj just pulled off the ultimate comeback” – Fans laud Team India pacer for fiery spell against USA in T20 World Cup 2026
Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj made a brilliant comeback in the T20 World Cup 2026 clash against the USA. India began their campaign with a tight 29-run victory at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday, February 7.
Batting first, the Men in Blue posted a fighting total of 161/9 courtesy of a terrific captain’s knock from Suryakumar Yadav, who made an unbeaten 84 off just 49 balls.
Defending the total, Siraj drew first blood for the hosts by dismissing Andries Gous in the second over. He returned to dismiss Saiteja Mukkumalla in the fourth over. Finally, Siraj finished with a wicket on the last ball of the match as the USA were restricted to 132/8.
It was a fiery spell from the pacer, who finished with figures of 3/29 from four overs. Fans lauded Siraj for his exceptional performance on his comeback.
“Mohammed Siraj just pulled off the ultimate comeback. One chance was all he needed to show the world. ❤️,” a fan wrote on X.
“Talk about seizing the moment! Mohammed Siraj wasn’t even in the squad initially, but once given the chance, he completely turned the game around. Can he now cement his place and become a regular match winner for the team?,” another tweet read.

With Jasprit Bumrah not playing the game, Siraj made the most of the opportunity, showcasing his skills and hunger to perform.
A dream comeback for Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj was not originally in India’s plans for the T20 World Cup 2026. The pacer was not even part of the squad. He was away from the format, having last played a T20I in July 2024.
However, Harshit Rana was injured at the last minute and ruled out a day before the T20 World Cup 2026. Siraj was then called to the squad as his replacement. Coming in at the last hour, he was also announced in the playing XI against the USA.
Siraj took the opportunity with both hands and helped India begin the tournament with a win. He will be eager to build on this momentum and continue performing well throughout the tournament.
