Miguel Rojas posted an emotional tribute to social media honoring his late father

On Tuesday, Miguel Rojas posted an emotional message to his Instagram story, honoring his late father.

“With immense pain on the part of the whole Rojas family, today I have to let you know everyone who had the opportunity to meet and share with my father Miguel Rojas “Micky” who yesterday, April 7, died suddenly in the afternoon hours.

“I want to sincerely thank everyone who has reached out to me and my entire family to show their love and let us know how loved my dad was throughout his life. May God receive him in his glory and rest in peace. 💔 You left dad and what hurts me the most is that I didn’t get to say goodbye😢😢,” Rojas posted.

The veteran infielder was pulled from the lineup in Tuesday’s game, shortly after he was got word of his father’s death. He returned to action in the series finale the following day.

After Wednesday’s game, Rojas explained that his father’s funeral had already taken place as per tradition in his home country, but he still chose to play, as that’s what he believes his family would have wanted him to do.

Rojas could still choose to take bereavement leave in the coming days, which would open the door for another player to get playing time in the infield.
