“Maybe it’s not so selfish to focus solely on what I want” – Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister makes big claim on future transfer
Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister has revealed that he wants to return to Argentina soon. He said his priorities have changed since becoming a father, and he is ready to put his family first over the club.
Speaking to La Agusneta, Mac Allister said he prefers to join Argentinos Juniors, as he has family ties there. The Liverpool star added that Boca Juniors is also on his future plans and said:
Thanks for the submission!
“I’d love to go back to Argentina. But, well, I became a father, and you start prioritising a lot of things. Maybe it’s not so selfish to focus solely on what I want. But yes, I’d love to return to Argentinos Juniors because my dad and my brothers all grew up there, and we’re grateful. And then, obviously, to Boca at some point.” (via Sport Witness)
Mac Allisgter joined Brighton & Hove Albion in 2019, after starting off at Argentinos Juniors. He also went on loan to Boca Juniors in 2019/20 before joining Liverpool in 2023.
The Liverpool star’s comments come just days after it was revealed that he has not been offered a new deal at the club. His father, Carlos, told WinWin earlier this week:
“There are currently no negotiations with L’pool to renew the contract.”
He has two seasons left on his current contract, but his father, who also acts as his agent, has hinted that he wants his son to join Real Madrid someday. Los Blancos have been linked with a move for the Argentine but have no made a formal move to sign the midfielder.
Liverpool star’s father wants son to join Real Madrid
Alexis Mac Allister’s father, Carlos, spoke to AS in November 2025, confirming that he wants his son to play for Real Madrid soon. However, he was adamant that there was no contact with Los Blancos, adding that his son was focused on playing for Liverpool.
“I read the rumours, but that’s all they were. There were no contacts. In any case, it’s always nice when my son is linked with the biggest clubs in the world. Real Madrid is a very big club, but so is L’pool, and we must be responsible and respect the institution he belongs to and that believed in him.” (via GOAL)
The Reds have extended the contract of Ryan Gravenberch and reports suggest Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are going to be the next players to have their deals extended soon.
