“Looked absolutely clueless” – Fans react to Abhishek Sharma’s flop show in RCB vs SRH IPL 2026 match

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed cheaply in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Saturday, March 28. RCB won the toss and elected to field first at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Abhishek got off the mark in style, hitting a fantastic six over the backward point fence off Jacob Duffy’s bowling in the first over. However, the fast bowler enjoyed the last laugh as he dismissed the southpaw on the first ball of the third over.

The swashbuckling batter scored just seven runs off eight balls during his brief stay at the crease. He got a thick top edge while playing the pull against a short-pitched delivery and was caught by wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma.

Abhishek’s poor form has been a major talking point in the last few months. He had an underwhelming T20 World Cup 2026 campaign. The 25-year-old scored 141 runs across eight innings, averaging just 17.62.

While he played a crucial 52-run knock off 21 balls in the final against New Zealand, he failed to get going in SRH’s opening game of IPL 2026. Many fans reacted to his flop show. Here are some of the top reactions on X:

No intent, no responsibility, no fight. When the team needed you, you disappeared without a trace. If you want to be taken seriously at the top level, this kind of performance is unacceptable What a worst performance by Abhishek Sharma, Well done jacob duffy #RCBvsSRH

Abhishek Sharma, brother, you don’t need to slog every ball. This isn’t your true potential. Take your time and play to your strengths rather than blindly slogging.🙏🏻

As far as I feel, Abhishek Sharma’s swashbuckling batting will not last long now. All the bowlers have understood how to get Abhishek Sharma out.Even now, if Abhishek Sharma keeps hitting and doesn’t take time, it won’t be long before he disappears from the playing 11. #RCBvsSRH

Abhishek looked absolutely clueless today. If you plan well, his wicket is a gift. He was just swinging blindly today 😭🙏

Abhishek Sharma exposed! #IPL2026 #Rcbvssrh

Abhishek Sharma has a lot of work to do. It’s getting hard watching him because it feels like his game is so amateur and unreliable.

Abhishek Sharma is currently the No. 1-ranked batter in ICC T20I rankings. However, his recent form and inconsistency have concerned several supporters.

SRH lose Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head in one over during RCB vs SRH IPL 2026 clash

SRH were off to a disappointing start with the bat. Jacob Duffy drew first blood by sending back Abhishek Sharma. He struck again in the same over, dismissing Travis Head on 11 off 9 on the final ball.

The short-ball worked wonders for Duffy as he got two big wickets. Head went for the pull but failed to get enough distance. The Australian batter was caught by Phil Salt at deep backward square leg.

Duffy struck again with the short ball in his subsequent over. He claimed the wicket of Nitish Reddy (1 off 6). The batter went for a big hit but ended up getting a top-edge and was caught at mid-wicket by Abhinandan Singh.
