Kevin Harvick calls out Bubba Wallace on Carson Hocevar incident after multi-car wreck at Martinsville: “You can’t lose your cool”

Former NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick recently called out 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace on his Happy Hour podcast. Harvick addressed Spire Motorsports driver Carson Hocevar’s late restart move, which left Wallace upset and led to a massive wreck at Martinsville Speedway last Sunday.

On lap 324 of the Cook Out 400, the field was tightly packed, and everyone was cautious with the throttle. However, Hocevar found a gap and decided to go three-wide to move up a few spots. Meanwhile, the 23XI Racing driver was not happy with him and made contact with the #77 Chevy Camaro. This move spun Hocevar out.

This led to Wallace crashing as well and collecting several drivers on the track in the aftermath. Speaking on the situation, Kevin Harvick was not happy with Bubba Wallace’s move and suggested that the #23 Toyota driver shouldn’t “lose his cool on the track.”

Harvick further explained that the 23XI Racing driver has been under a lot of pressure with his teammate, Tyler Reddick, winning four races. Following that, the former Cup Series champion stated:

“I think Bubba got riled up because Carson put him three wide on a restart and put him in a bad spot, and Bubba didn’t like that. But, you know, it’s Martinsville, and I’ve lost my temper a bunch of times at Martinsville and probably done stuff like this too, but Bubba just lost his cool.”

“He didn’t like the move that Carson put on him early in the race and then kind of lost his cool there and wound up crashing the 77 and himself and several others.” So unfortunate for all the other guys that are involved. Wasn’t long ago we were talking about Bubba and Tyler being one and two in the points. Bubba’s 11th in the points,” he added.

Tyler Reddick leads the Cup Series drivers’ standings with 353 points and four wins in seven starts. Meanwhile, Bubba Wallace fell eight spots after the Martinsville Speedway race and sits 11th with 206 points to his credit.

“I hate that we didn’t get the win”: Bubba Wallace shared his honest take on his Atlanta weekend heartbreak

In Feb. 2026, 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace competed in the Autotrader 400, which ended in a heartbreaking finish for him. Later, during a post-race interview with FOX Sports, Wallace shared his learnings from the last-minute move that changed the outcome of the race.

The #23 Toyota driver began the race from ninth place. Later, he gained command of the pack and won stage two of the race. He continued his lead to the closing laps of the race. However, with two laps to go, Wallace moved to the outside lane, which gave Carson Hocevar enough room to take the lead. Following that, the 23XI Racing driver faded into the traffic, leading to a heartbreaking finish.

Speaking on the same, Bubba Wallace stated:

“So unfortunate. But man, what a race car we had today. You know what I learned a lot from is Rajah yesterday. He had a bad fast car, and he finished second, first stage, and won the second stage, just like me. And I was like, “This car is so fast; don’t do anything to jeopardize a good finish. “I hate that we didn’t get the win. But I’m just pumped that Toyota still got to victory lane.”

Bubba Wallace finished the Autotrader 400 held on Feb. 22, 2026, in eighth place. Meanwhile, his teammate Tyler Reddick clinched the win, crossing the finish line 0.164 seconds ahead of Chase Briscoe.
