John Cena finally reacts after Gunther gets announced as his last WWE opponent

Gunther won the Last Time is Now Tournament on SmackDown this week and sealed his ticket for Saturday Night’s Main Event 2025, where he’ll face John Cena in the latter’s retirement match. The Leader of Cenation has now finally reacted to the development by sharing an Instagram post.

Ever since the tournament was announced, most fans expected The Ring General to cross the finish line and emerge as Cena’s final opponent. This is exactly what panned out on SmackDown, where he defeated the fan-favorite LA Knight. Gunther received a hostile reception following the match as the crowd was firmly in The Megastar’s corner and wanted him to secure the spot at SNME 2025.

John Cena has now finally shared his reaction to the events on the Friday Night Show. The 17-time WWE Champion sent out a typically cryptic Instagram post, where he simply posted a picture of Gunther. Check it out below:

John Cena has no intention of coming back

In a wide-ranging chat with The Ringer earlier this week, The Leader of Cenation touched upon several topics, including his impending retirement. Cena reiterated for the umpteenth time that he would stick to his decision of hanging up his boots following December 13th and will never step inside the ring again.

“You don’t have to believe anything you don’t want to. What I’ve been able to do over 23 years is turn a lot of non-believers around and that is by my actions. I don’t expect anyone to believe that like, ‘Hey, I’m retiring’. Oh, no. The precedent hasn’t been said. The precedent for wrestling retirement is like a wrestling wedding, like something’s going to go wrong in the wedding. No one ever retires. I understand the skepticism, and you’ll know I’m serious when I never come back.” said Cena.

Though many have been critical of how John Cena’s retirement tour has been booked, there’s no doubt there won’t be a single dry eye when he finally walks away into the sunset at SNME 2025.
