Jamie Redknapp reveals when he believes Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool after his explosive interview calling out the club

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp reckons Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah could leave the club next summer instead of the January transfer window. His comments arrived hours after Salah’s explosive interview, in which he called out Arne Slot for throwing him ‘under the bus’.

Liverpool’s poor form showed no signs of stopping as they were held to a 3-3 draw by Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday, December 6. Arne Slot named Mohamed Salah on the bench for the third Premier League game in a row, much to the Egyptian King’s chagrin.

Following the game, Salah spoke to Norwegian TV, blasting the club for making him a scapegoat before admitting their next fixture against Brighton could be his last for the Reds (December 13). He stated (via Rousing the Kop):

“I can’t believe it, I’m very disappointed. I’ve done so much for this club, everyone can see that over the years, especially last season. To be on the bench, I don’t know why. I feel like the club is throwing me under the bus. That’s how I feel.”

He added:

“I said many times before that I have a good relationship with the manager, suddenly we don’t have a relationship, I don’t know why. It’s not acceptable to me, to be honest. I don’t know why it always happens to me. ‘We throw Mo under the bus, because he’s the problem.’ I don’t think I’m the problem.”

He continued:

“I called my mother yesterday, you didn’t know I wasn’t going to start today, I knew that. I said come to the Brighton game, it doesn’t matter if I play or not, I’m going to enjoy it. We’ll see what happens, in my mind I’m going to enjoy it anyway, because I don’t know what’s going to happen anyway. The game will be at Anfield, so that will be my goodbye before I go to AFCON.”

From the aforementioned source, Redknapp predicted Salah’s future at Liverpool, stating:

“I don’t necessarily think in January. I just think we’ve got to let this settle. But I don’t foresee that he’ll see out the two years of his contract. I think it might be more in the summer.”

Mohamed Salah signed a new deal with Liverpool earlier this year, in April, keeping him at the club until June 2027.

Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah has expressed his frustration at not being treated fairly after being benched for three Premier League games in a row. The 33-year-old used former Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as an example during his recent interview.

After remaining an unused substitute against Leeds, Salah said (via DaveOCKOP):

“I have been at this club, scoring more than anyone in this generation, since I came to the Premier League. I don’t think anyone has scored more goals and made more assists than me in the whole Premier League. I remember a while ago, Harry Kane was not scoring for 10 games, everyone in the media was like ‘oh, Harry will score for sure, when it comes to Mo everyone is like ‘he needs to be on the bench’. I am sorry Harry!”

Mohamed Salah has struggled for form this season, registering five goals and three assists in 19 appearances across all competitions. However, he has excelled for Liverpool over the past eight years, garnering 250 goals and 116 assists in 420 total appearances.
