Iowa basketball coach Jan Jensen expressed pride in her team after an important 83-74 win at West Lafayette on Thursday night. No. 13 Iowa beat the Boilermakers, stretching to 21-5 on the season and 12-3 in Big Ten play.
Jensen shared the win on her Instagram story, praising her team’s effort in getting an important road win.
“Our Hawks had to handle a bit more adversity tonight & still got a B1G road W! So proud of ‘em! Let’s Goooo!!!!” she wrote.

Sophomore center Ava Heiden led the Hawkeyes in scoring with a game-high 21 points on 10-for-12 shooting, adding 13 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Her performance on Thursday marked her seventh double-double of the season and the second in the past two games.
Sophomore guard Taylor Stremlow dropped another incredible performance. She set a new career high with 19 points on 7-for-10 shooting, as she went 5-for-6 behind the three-point line. She also recorded eight assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
Freshman guard Jorney Houston and senior guard Kylie Feuerbach also dropped double-digit scoring performances. Houston delivered a career-high 16-point performance, while Feuerbach scored 10 points. It was Houston’s first career start, as she replaced Hannah Stuelke, who was out injured.
Following Thursday’s win, Jan Jensen can now focus on the Hawkeyes’ next game against No. 6 Michigan. The Hawkeyes will host Michigan on Sunday in what is potentially the most consequential Big Ten game of the season.
Iowa and Michigan are locked in a battle for second place in the Big Ten standings, with UCLA leading with a considerable gap.
Jan Jensen enters Coach of the Year watchlist
Jan Jensen is officially a candidate for the 2026 Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year Award. The watchlist for the award was announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on Wednesday.
The second-year head coach has taken the Hawkeyes past the 20-win mark for the second straight season. She became the first coach in the program’s history to lead the Hawkeyes to 20+ wins in their first two seasons in charge.
Jensen is on course to surpass Angie Lee’s record for the most wins by an Iowa coach in their first two seasons. She’s on 44 wins and will exceed Lee’s 45-win mark with only two more wins this season.
The Hawkeyes will face Illinois and Wisconsin next week after their matchup with Michigan on Saturday.
