“I think I’m ready to retire” – Current WWE champion issues shocking statement

A current WWE champion has posted a shocking statement on social media. The star is all set to compete in a high-stakes four-way match in a different promotion.

The name in question is WWE NXT North American Champion Ethan Page. On the latest episode of AAA on Fox, it was announced that All Ego would wrestle Omos, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., and Pimpinela Escarlata in a Rey de Reyes qualifying match. The winner will join La Parka and The Original El Grande Americano for a fatal four-way match at Rey de Reyes to determine the number one contender for the AAA Mega Championship.

Earlier today, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. took to X (fka Twitter) to share a poster for the match. He mentioned Ethan Page and asked him if he was ready to be kissed. In response, the NXT star stayed true to his on-screen persona and noted that he was thinking of retiring from professional wrestling instead.

“I think I’m ready to retire,” Page wrote.

WWE NXT star Ethan Page lost an AAA title earlier this month

Ethan Page has been the WWE NXT North American Champion since the May 27, 2025, edition of NXT, where he defeated Ricky Saints to claim the gold. He became a double champion in November when he and Chelsea Green defeated La Hiedra and Mr. Iguana at AAA Alianzas to become the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champions.

Unfortunately, they lost the title in Chelsea Green’s absence. The duo was scheduled to defend the strap against the team of NXT’s Lola Vice and AAA’s Mr. Iguana. However, La Hiedra joined forces with Ethan Page because The Hot Mess sustained an injury on SmackDown. Unfortunately, the champions failed to retain the title, ending their reign that lasted 97 days.

Ethan Page has been an integral part of NXT since he joined in May 2024. It seems to be a matter of time before he gets a main roster call-up. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 36-year-old star.
