“I hit a lot harder than him” – Jeremy Miado warns Willie van Rooyen of his knockout power ahead of ONE Fight Night 41
Jeremy Miado of the Philippines knows the destructive power in his hands is his greatest equalizer.
‘The Jaguar’ will be on the prowl at ONE Fight Night 41 this weekend, where he faces South African slugger Willie ‘White Lion’ van Rooyen. This three-round flyweight MMA clash takes place on Friday, March 13, at Bangkok’s legendary Lumpinee Stadium.
Van Rooyen carried a lot of hype entering the home of martial arts after a perfect 7-0 record and two EFC Flyweight titles.
However, the 23-year-old was given a rude welcome in his promotional debut courtesy of a submission loss to Avazbek Kholmirzaev.

Miado carefully watched that match-up and had high praise for van Rooyen’s well-rounded abilities, despite the loss.
While impressed by ‘White Lion’s’ sharp striking, Miado deduced that his punches still carry more weight.
The 33-year-old veteran told ONE Championship:
“I hit a lot harder than him. I know I can take his shots, but let’s see how he’ll deal once I hit him with mine.”
Miado’s confidence is earned. He holds memorable finishes over fellow knockout artists Lito ‘Thunder Kid’ Adiwang and ‘Mini T’ Danial Williams.
That world-class boxing skills and ability to explode out of nowhere make him one of the division’s most dangerous finishers.
Jeremy Miado says Willie van Rooyen is wise beyond his years
Apart from his world-class skills, Willie van Rooyen displays a veteran’s poise and composure rarely seen in young fighters.
Jeremy Miado admits he’s impressed that the 23-year-old South African carries himself with grace when faced with extreme pressure.
‘The Jaguar’ told ONE:
“To be fair, Van Rooyen is quite calm and composed. At his age, he’s already that way, so I give him props for that. But I guess he’s coming in with more pressure to prove himself.”
ONE Fight Night 41 airs live in U.S. primetime, free for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
