Huge WWE name reacts to Chelsea Green controversy – “That’s not what I was saying”
Chelsea Green is one of the most popular stars on the WWE roster. She is currently a part of the SmackDown roster.
On an episode of season two of Netflix’s Unreal docuseries, WWE producer Michael Hayes commented on Green. He detailed that the former Women’s United States Champion was not meant to be a top star and rather would be the one putting over top talent. These comments did not sit well with fans, and the legend faced a lot of backlash online.
Thanks for the submission!
During a recent episode of the Six Feet Under podcast with The Undertaker, Hayes explained that Netflix showed only a part of his comments. The legend mentioned that the context behind his comments was lost, and it only seemed as though he felt Chelsea was not good enough.
“Now, I’ve talked to Netflix about this because when we did that interview, and I recall this specifically. When we started the interview, the first thing I said was, Chelsea is as good, as talented, and as entertaining as anyone we have. But of course, that never saw the light of day. It was left on the cutting room floor because if you’re going to make me a heel, the best way to do it is to say she’s not good enough. That’s not what I was saying.”
Hayes added that he did not regret making those comments on the show. He explained that if fans wanted Chelsea Green to be pushed, she would eventually get her opportunity.
“I don’t regret what I said because her role at the time, and even right now, is not the top role. It’s to help make other people. And as you know, we’re always only as good as the people who help make us.”
Chelsea Green dropped a huge hint on social media
This week on RAW, Brock Lesnar issued an open challenge to the WWE roster. Paul Heyman was by his side and announced that Lesnar’s match was a major main event at WrestleMania. He urged anybody in WWE to show up and accept the Beast’s open challenge.
This week on social media, Chelsea Green replied to WWE’s tweet about Lesnar’s open challenge. The 34-year-old star jokingly suggested that she may be up to the challenge. The star is, however, out of action after suffering an ankle injury during her match against Tiffany Stratton and Lash Legend on the February 6 edition of SmackDown.
