“Hoop mom” Laura Govan dons lime yellow blazer to cheer for son Alijah Arenas after USC freshman played through illness vs. Illinois
Alijah Arenas’ USC suffered a 101-65 loss to No. 10 Illinois at the Galen Center on Wednesday. Arenas was battling illness and was listed as a game-time decision before the contest. However, he still managed to play 18 minutes in the matchup, posting eight points with two assists.
Arenas’ mother, Laura Govan, was also courtside to support her young one. Govan, who donned a yellow blazer with some stylish jeans, shared a few snaps from her time at the game on her Instagram story on Thursday.
“Hoop mom,” Govan wrote on one the pictures on her IG story.

Govan also shared a picture with Arenas.

Govan, a media celebrity, appeared on the first and second seasons of Basketball Wives. She was also a guest on the show in season five.
Alijah’s father, Gilbert, played in the NBA for 11 seasons, earning three All-Star honors. He had stints with the Golden State Warriors, Washington Wizards, Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies.

Alijah Arenas’ USC will face Oregon on Saturday

Alijah Arenas’ USC (18-8, 7-8 Big Ten) will face Oregon (9-17, 2-13) on Saturday. The game will tip off at 4 p.m. ET from the Galen Center in Los Angeles.
The Trojans have lost their past two games and will be aiming to snap their losing streak against the Ducks, who enter the contest on the back of a loss to Minnesota.
