Hardik Pandya’s heartfelt gesture for Shivam Dube after running him out in IND vs ENG T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal [In Picture]

A mix-up with Hardik Pandya ended Shivam Dube’s impactful knock in the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal against England in Mumbai on Thursday, March 5. The southpaw finished with a well-made 43 off 25 after India were put in to bat first at the Wankhede Stadium.

On the third ball of the 18th over, Hardik Pandya dug out a yorker from Sam Curran towards mid-wicket. He called for a run but then decided against it after taking a few steps. Dube was halfway down the pitch and had no chance of getting back into the crease at the non-striker’s end.

Harry Brook produced a direct hit to send the dangerous batter back. In a heartwarming moment, Hardik apologized to Dube by giving him a hug on the dressing room stairs. Watch the picture below:

India did a commendable job with the bat, posting 253/7 in 20 overs. The side registered the highest-ever total in a T20 World Cup knockout game. Sanju Samson was the top performer, scoring 89 off 42. Shivam Dube, Ishan Kishan (39 off 18), and Hardik Pandya (27 off 12) also played impactful knocks.

The winner of the second semifinal will take on New Zealand in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8.

Shivam Dube equals MS Dhoni’s unwanted record after his T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal dismissal

This wasn’t the first time that Shivam Dube got run out in the ongoing ICC event. The swashbuckling batter earlier got out in that fashion twice, with Rinku Singh being his batting partner on both occasions.

Dube equaled former India captain MS Dhoni’s unwanted record of getting run out the most number of times in a T20 World Cup edition. Dhoni was run out three times in 2007.

Interestingly, Hardik Pandya was also run out later during the innings. He slammed two sixes off Will Jacks’ bowling in the final over before walking back to the pavilion on the penultimate ball.
