On March 17, 2025, Warner Bros. released preview images of the main cast from the upcoming space-opera epic Dune: Part Three.

The teaser photos feature Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson, Florence Pugh, Robert Pattinson, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Isaach De Bankolé, offering a darker look at their characters as the story moves toward the conclusion of the Dune trilogy.

Adapted from Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel Dune Messiah, Dune: Part Three is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2026. The movie will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, who also directed the previous films Dune and Dune: Part Two.

In Dune: Part Three, Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul Atreides, looking weary and scarred as the new Emperor. Zendaya’s Chani appears to be battle-worn, hinting at the tension between her and Paul’s new empire. Rebecca Ferguson and Javier Bardem are back as Lady Jessica and Stilgar, both devoted to their religious roles.

The stills also revealed new characters in the upcoming film. Anya Taylor-Joy appears as the fully grown Alia, Paul’s powerful sister, while Florence Pugh looks both regal and troubled as Princess Irulan. One of the most surprising reveals is the return of Jason Momoa as Hayt, a mysterious “ghola” version of Duncan Idaho.

We also see the villains and allies fueling the new plot of Dune: Part Three. Robert Pattinson debuts as the shapeshifting Scytale, and Isaach De Bankolé joins as the veteran Fremen, Farok.

The story of Dune: Part Three is expected to follow the events of Dune Messiah, the 1969 novel by Frank Herbert. The novel’s story takes place many years after Paul Atreides (Chalamet) becomes the ruler of the empire. By this time, Paul is known across the universe as a powerful leader and religious figure.

However, his rise to power has led to a massive war carried out by the Fremen in his name, which has caused the deaths of billions of people across many planets. As emperor, Paul struggles with the consequences of the movement that made him a messiah to his followers.

Even though he can see possible futures through his visions, he finds it difficult to stop the violence and political chaos spreading across the galaxy. At the same time, several powerful groups secretly work together to remove him from power. These groups include the Bene Gesserit, the Spacing Guild, and the Tleilaxu, who create a complex plan to weaken Paul and control the empire.

The story also follows the return of Duncan Idaho in a new form called a ghola, named Hayt, who becomes closely connected to Paul. Meanwhile, Paul’s personal life changes when Chani gives birth to their children, shaping the future of the Atreides family.

Dune: Part Three will be released on December 18, 2026.
