“Feeling that I know I’ll never get again”: Travis Kelce makes feelings clear on hardest part about post-retirement life

Travis Kelce has enjoyed a successful 13-year NFL career. The future Hall of Famer is viewed by many as the best tight end of his era, and his three Super Bowl rings are a testament to his penchant for winning.

Kelce appeared on the “New Heights” Podcast alongside his brother, Jason and special guest Randy Moss. Travis Kelce opened up about what he will miss when he eventually hangs up his cleats.

“Man, the feeling of having to rise to the occasion, be there for, you know, 70,000 that are all counting on you out there, outside of just the guys that you go to war with, you guys go to battle with, Kelce said on the most recent episode of his podcast.

“Man, those moments of rising to the occasion in the heat of the battle, you know, in the playoffs and all the big games out there. Man, that’s a feeling that I know I’ll never get again.

“I think that’s, that’s, that’s something that you know those are, those are the things that you cherish the most, and especially, you know, if you’re fortunate enough to be in the playoffs and make runs at it. Man, the satisfaction that you get in the successful feeling you get of all the hard work that you put in, it’s finally paying off.”

Kelce has reached three Super Bowl games in the last four seasons. He won the first two but lost the third against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs missed out on the playoffs in 2025.

Interestingly, it’s the first time since 2014 that Kelce didn’t play postseason football. He’s now set to make one of the biggest decisions of his life.

Travis Kelce has yet to announce 2026 plans

Travis Kelce is fresh off yet another Pro Bowl season with the Chiefs. The veteran tight end was one of the few Chiefs’ players who gave a good account of themselves in that turned out to be a forgettable 2025 season.

According to People Magazine, Kelce has not yet confirmed whether or not he’s planning to play another season. The perennial Pro Bowler’s contract with the Chiefs expires this month.

Kelce is tipped to re-sign with the Chiefs if he decides to come back for one more season. However, Sports Illustrated’s Matt Verderame has the Cleveland Browns listed as a potential landing spot.

Travis Kelce was born in Westlake, Ohio, and attended Cleveland Heights High School, so joining the Browns could be a full-circle moment. The future Hall of Famer’s future will be much clearer in the coming weeks.
