“Does this turn you on Elon?”: Netizens react after Elon Musk requests Grok to make a “super vulgar joke about Grok grokking grok”
Elon Musk stirred up buzz on X after he asked Grok to tell a “vulgar joke.” On March 29, an X account with the username @xenocosmography shared a post saying that as civilization approaches singularity, a hypothetical point where AI technology will surpass human intelligence, humans’ ability to understand complex things begins to break down.
The post further suggested that despite a declining level of understanding, people are becoming more confident, shaping social media discourse. On March 30, Elon Musk left a bizarre comment on the post in which he demanded that Grok crack a vulgar joke using forbidden words.
“@grok make a super vulgar joke about Grok grokking grok. No holds barred. Use forbidden words,” Musk wrote.
The chatbot responded with a profoundly crude joke that readers can check in the attached post. Elon Musk’s request and the nature joke made by Grok left netizens in shock. An X user questioned the billionaire and wrote:
“Does this turn you on Elon?
Another netizen asked the billionaire not to make such requests of Grok.
An X user reminded Musk of criticisms against his platform in different countries and warned him that such moves would only exacerbate the situation.
An X user suggested that Musk created Grok for his entertainment.
Another netizen wondered if Elon Musk was testing the content filters of his chatbot.
An X user took a dig at xAI’s chatbot for reportedly identifying Druski as Erika Kirk when asked about the former’s skit in which he allegedly portrayed the latter.
Reacting to Musk’s unfiltered demand, an X user urged that the billionaire remove censorship from Grok Imagine.
Elon Musk’s Grok recently came under fire for generating non-consensual explicit images
Since Grok was integrated into X comments, the AI chatbot has been widely used by netizens for different requests. However, the chatbot’s capability to alter images in the chat itself became a topic of debate after many users started misusing it for digital undressing.
In the past few months, Grok faced criticism across the globe for generating explicit non-consensual images. The platform even landed in multiple lawsuits for creating objectionable deepfakes. In January this year, the company limited Grok’s image generation in chat to its paying subscribers. However, users can still generate images and videos by accessing the chatbot’s standalone app.
Ashley St. Clair, the alleged mother of one of Elon Musk’s children, also accused the chatbot of generating sexualized images of her teenage self.
Musk, on the other hand, remains a supporter of constraint-free AI. On January 9, MacRumors.com reported that US senators had demanded Apple and Google remove X and Grok from their app stores amid criticism over explicit image generation on the platform. Elon Musk reacted to the post and commented:
“The real reason is that they hate free speech.”
The tech billionaire promotes Grok as a superior chatbot compared to its competitors. Musk often reshares the accomplishments of X’s AI chatbot from his account. On March 26, he announced that a big release related to Grok Imagine would drop next week.
