Conor McGregor drops huge BMF update just hours before UFC 326, claims UFC couldn’t fix on an opponent
Conor McGregor has hinted at who his next opponent could be, and also hit out a little bit at the UFC.
The Irishman is still awaiting his next fight and has been constantly asking for one. However, nothing has been confirmed from the UFC’s end.
The last time McGregor fought was in 2021 when he lost to Dustin Poirier. He was expected to fight Michael Chandler in 2024, but couldn’t due to a toe injury.
The former two-division UFC champion was speaking to Smash Cast Media and claimed he was willing to fight Chandler at the UFC White House, but the promotion changed their mind:

“I was up for the White House… it was McGregor vs. Chandler, the story was built in. Chandler’s a standup guy, he is electric in the cage, he comes to bring it.”
McGregor continued:
“It would have been dynamite… somewhere down the line, not me ever saying no. ‘Maybe we are going to go with you at International Fight Week,’ OK, no problem.”
However, the Irishman says he was fine with putting Chandler to the sidelines and claimed that the UFC kept changing opponents and he never said no to any fight:
“Maybe we are going to leave Chandler. I do like Chandler, been preparing for him for the last few years. He deserves to go… it would be a great fight, it gets me back in there. But they veered off it, I am not going to be too picky. I have to get back.”

The Irishman added that he was keen to fight at 170 pounds next. McGregor added that he had been offered several opponents, and he kept accepting, but the UFC couldn’t confirm these fights.
‘The Notorious’ also added that his manager was going to negotiate on Monday and was confident that something would work out.
However, McGregor hinted at who he could fight next. He claimed that he was hearing rumors of a champion for him:
“The vibes I am getting and I don’t mind it at all, is the BMF contest which is on this week… maybe it is me in that for the next one, we will see.”
Max Holloway defends his BMF title against Charles Oliveira in less than an hour. This is a rematch from over a decade ago, and the winner facing McGregor would be quite the matchup.
