Brie Bella returned to WWE SmackDown to compete in her first match since returning to the company at the 2026 Royal Rumble PLE. In doing so, she suddenly paid homage to her husband, Bryan Danielson.

On the March 20 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, The Bella Twins (Nikki and Brie Bella) were scheduled to battle Nia Jax and Lash Legend (The Irresistible Forces) for their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. The WWE Hall of Famer duo had waited for that opportunity for years, and they finally got it on SmackDown this week. However, it was a tall task as they battled the powerhouse team of Lash and Nia.

As the fast-paced tag team title was in full swing, Nikki tagged in her sister Brie, who charged straight at Jax. Just as she had The Irresistible Force in position, Brie delivered a series of ‘Yes Kicks’ on her, made popular by her husband and current AEW star Bryan Danielson during his time in the Stamford-based promotion. Moreover, the fans in attendance showed full support as Brie paid tribute to the former World Champion on live television.

As the Women’s Tag Team title match came down to its final moments, Nia Jax had an altercation with Charlotte Flair, who watched the action with her teammate, Alexa Bliss, ringside. This led The Queen to attack Jax, ending the match in a Disqualification, with The Irresistible Forces retaining the gold in the process.

This was a deja vu from last week’s SmackDown, where The Bellas interference led to a DQ in the match between Nia & Lash and Charlotte & Alexa for the titles. Following the match, it was announced that The Bella Twins will battle Charlexa in a tag team match next week on SmackDown. The winners of the match will get another shot at the Women’s Tag Team titles against Jax and Legend, leading to an interesting direction in the title picture.
