Beloved wrestler announces he’s retiring at the end of 2026; he’s ending his career after just 11 years

A veteran wrestler has disclosed that 2026 will be his final year in the business and that he is ready to bid goodbye for good. A few hours back on his X account, former ROH star O’Shay Edwards revealed his plans to hang up his boots.

While not a very well-known name among mainstream viewers, Edwards enjoys a dedicated following from indie wrestling fans. He began his career as a wrestler in 2015 and has performed for various promotions across the globe in the following decade, including ROH, MLW, and GCW.

However, as all good things come to an end, O’Shay Edwards believes this might be the right time for him to walk away into the sunset, with his head held high. He recently took to his X account and shared an emotional note about his decision. The beloved wrestler explained that the upcoming 10 months would be his final ones in wrestling and that he intended to make the most out of it.

“One day he too will pass on his legacy, Through the seeds that drop to the ground. And as the wind carry these seeds throughout the land, A new life will begin for each one of them as they Stand for a monument to the one that came before,” he wrote.”

O’Shay Edwards is not the only wrestler to retire in 2026

While just as happening as all years, 2026 has also been a melancholic and emotional one for fans, as several fan-favorite wrestlers have decided to call it quits on their careers. AJ Styles was the biggest of the lot.

Though fans hoped to see him in action throughout the year, his loss to Gunther at Royal Rumble 2026 effectively ended his career. Apart from him, Big E also confirmed he was retired in an announcement that was long overdue, as he hasn’t wrestled since his life-threatening neck injury in 2022.

Outside of WWE, it was NJPW’s equivalent of John Cena, Hiroshi Tanahashi, ending his career at Wrestle Kingdom 20. With just two months into the year, only time will tell how many more such announcements fans will have to deal with.
