“Arizona makes all the sense in the world”: NFL analyst makes bold claim about Ty Simpson’s rising draft stock despite Jets interest

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah is a fan of Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson. Jeremiah joined “The Pat McAfee Show” on Friday to discuss the Crimson Tide signal-caller’s draft stock ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft next month.

While Jeremiah thinks Simpson can be a good player in the league, he does see some concerns, particularly his lack of starting experience at the collegiate level, as this past season with Alabama was his only year serving as the team’s starter, in just 15 games.

Nobody has had that little experience coming out of college and entered the NFL with profound success since Cam Newton, a major anomaly. With that being said, Jeremiah can see a team like the Arizona Cardinals taking a chance on Simpson early in the second round.

“Arizona makes all the sense in the world to me. Like, if I could pinpoint one team, it’s Arizona. Now, at three, that coffee is too rich. I cannot see that happening. But then they’re picking at the top of the second round. So if they want to come back into the bottom of the first round, I mean, I think he’s, you know, it would be a pick I could totally get behind.

“So I like him. I think he’s got a chance to be a good player. I just, you know, there are worrisome trends, and we can go all the way through them. And Cam Newton being kind of the only guy, you know, since 2011 with under 17 starts, Cam Newton’s a cyborg. Like, that’s not a normal human being.”

The Cardinals are looking for another quarterback after releasing former No. 1 pick Kyler Murray this offseason. The team ended last season starting veteran Jacoby Brissett at QB.

While the Cardinals might be a perfect landing spot for Simpson, the New York Jets have reportedly had interest in the quarterback as well. After the Las Vegas Raiders, the Jets hold the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, while Arizona sits at the number three spot.

It’s unlikely that either team will use its first-round pick on Simpson, but with each team having the same selection in the second round, the Alabama product could be an early selection on day two of the festivities.

Both the Jets and Cardinals are in desperate need of a franchise quarterback, making the likelihood of gambling on a rookie early a much higher possibility.

The 2026 NFL Draft kicks off from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, April 23.
