AEW star apologizes after reportedly receiving backstage heat over comments involving Adam Cole’s career-threatening injury
After reportedly getting backstage heat, a top AEW star has issued an apology after their recent comments related to Adam Cole’s unfortunate health issues. They also clarified what they meant in their statement.
Kyle Fletcher recently called AEW All In: Texas last year as one of the worst moments of his life, following the last-minute changes to his match that night. This led to backlash from many, as this was also the same night where Cole revealed he’d be out of action indefinitely, with even the risk of never returning. Fletcher also unfortunately played a role in worsening his injuries.
While speaking to Adrian Hernandez on Unlikely, The Protostar clarified his statement, as he was disappointed in himself for how he worded this. He apologized as he came off as insensitive.
“Look, that comment that I made the other day—I was very upset with myself for the way I worded it. I would like to apologize for the way I spoke and the words that I used. I think the words I used were a bit insensitive, saying it was one of the worst days of my life.”
He explained that he was speaking from his point of view and wanted Cole to be the one to tell his story. Fletcher mentioned how, in the end, he had no right to complain, as he knew that Adam Cole was going through much worse.
“My thought process when I was answering that—and answering any questions about that day—is that I never want to talk about somebody else’s story. That whole day, that whole situation, a lot of it is Adam’s story to tell. I don’t feel like I have the right to complain about any of it, because what Adam is going through—and has gone through—my feelings pale in comparison to it.” [H/T RSN]
What exactly did Kyle Fletcher say about AEW All In?
The popular AEW star’s controversial statement was made during his interview with Soundsphere a few days ago. He called All In: Texas as one of the worst days of his life, as he had made preparations for this, only for there to be last-minute changes to his match.
“It was one of the worst days of my whole life. When you have so much built up anxiety and you’ve put that pressure on yourself… You know, I’d been dieting for two, three months leading up to that show. Every single day, I’d been thinking about this moment, this match, all of it. And then the rug gets pulled five hours before, you can’t really put into words what that kind of feels like,” he said.
Adam Cole’s health situation is unfortunate, and his future remains uncertain. Hopefully, things will change, and he can have a proper end to his AEW in-ring career.
