A two-time WWE Champion has landed himself in hot water with the law. Alberto Del Rio has been arrested on a domestic violence charge.

The Essence of Excellence is often known to make headlines for all the wrong reasons. Back in 2020, Alberto Del Rio was charged with sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping of his ex-girlfriend.

He was later arrested in San Antonio, Texas. But all the criminal charges against him were dropped the following year after a witness failed to appear in court.

Del Rio has since continued with his life and remained active on the independent circuit.

Earlier today, LAAFICION reported that Alberto Del Rio was arrested in the capital of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, on suspicion of domestic violence.

According to reports, the civil guard officer found his romantic partner with signs of violence and injuries to her face and arms when they arrived at the scene. It was the victim who called 911 for police assistance.

This led to the wrestler’s immediate arrest, and he was placed under the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of San Luis Potosí (FGE) to face the corresponding charges.

Alberto Del Rio has had rocky relationships, having been accused of physical abuse by former WWE Superstar Paige.

His wrestling run has also been marred by controversies. He was suspended for six months and banned from competing in Tijuana following an altercation with a fan. The 48-year-old star was later let go by Lucha Libre AAA.

His past issues have continued to hamper his chances of making it back to the big leagues.

WWE has steered clear of Alberto Del Rio despite rumors that several people were pushing for his return.
