“Perhaps wise subs from Carrick just after the hour mark. Both Shaw and Casemiro were on bookings, and with the game poised as it is – and with the energy at St James’ Park – there’s no point in risking it.

“United will miss Casemiro in possession but the introduction of Ugarte could add legs to the midfield.”
