“The reason I stopped paying rent was because the living conditions in the apartment had become unacceptable,” Rourke told the celebrity news site.

“There were ongoing rodent issues that required multiple visits but were never fully resolved, and the bathroom and plumbing frequently did not work.”

The 73-year-old actor, who’s been living at a West Hollywood hotel with his dog since January, said he repeatedly requested repairs but the problems persisted and “basic maintenance was never properly handled.”

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, a judge ruled in favour of Mickey’s landlord, Eric Goldie, on Monday and ordered the actor to leave the apartment even though he had already relocated.

According to the documents in Los Angeles Superior Court, viewed and obtained by the Los Angeles Times, People and NBC, the Oscar nominee (The Wrestler) was evicted after he allegedly failed to pay nearly US$60,000 in rent.

The judge ruled in favour of Eric Goldie for possession of the home and termination of the rental agreement.

The actor was previously given three days notice to pay rent or vacate the premises on Dec. 18, 2025, and he failed to comply. It was alleged at the time he owed US$59,100 in unpaid rent.

Rourke moved into hotel after GoFundMe launched on his behalf

The actor moved to the hotel shortly after a GoFundMe was launched by Liya-Joelle Jones, an assistant to his manager Kimberly Hines, to help him avoid eviction, a move Rourke later denounced.

The GoFundMe raised more than its goal of $100,000 but donations were paused after Rourke denied any involvement in setting it up.

“Somebody set up some kind of foundation or fund for me to donate money, like in a charity, and that’s not me, okay?” Rourke said in a video posted to Instagram in January.

“I wouldn’t know what a GoFund foundation is in a million years. My life is very simple. I don’t go to outside sources like that. And yeah, it is embarrassing, but I’m sure I’ll get over it like anything else.”

The GoFundMe page claimed it was launched with the actor’s “full permission,” but not according to Rourke who said he would be speaking with his lawyers.

Rourke’s manager Hines told Deadline her team created the page “in an act of desperation” after Rourke was served with an eviction notice.

“We’re trying to do the best that we can,” Hines said, adding it wasn’t created with any “mal intent.”
