‘Wrong path’: MAGA commentators criticize Trump’s Iran attacks
A slew of MAGA commentators, from Megyn Kelly to Nick Fuentes, have torn into President Trump over his decision to launch strikes on Iran.
The U.S. and Israel began bombing the Islamic Republic on Saturday, killing the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in the process. Six U.S. soldiers have died in the conflict so far.
While appearing on The Megyn Kelly Show, Erik Prince, the founder of the private military contractor Blackwater, lamented the current situation in Iran.
“I love the president, I love, largely, the decisions he’s made, but I love him enough to also tell him when he’s going down the wrong path,” Prince said.
Kelly also criticized the conflict in Iran, comparing it to the 2003 Invasion of Iraq.
“The president is talking about ‘uh, I could do it in a couple days or four weeks, five weeks,’” she said.
Then, the former Fox News host played a clip of former Vice President Dick Cheney claiming that an operation in Iraq, which would become the 2003 invasion, could conclude in a matter of “weeks.”
“Eight years and eight months later, we finally pulled our troops out,” Kelly continued. “It was not weeks, it was not months. It was nearly a decade.”
Prince added that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is likely to be better prepared than Saddam Hussein’s military forces.
“It’s a 10x worse decision than going into Iraq was,” he said.
Even far-right commentators Nick Fuentes and Alex Jones criticised the strikes on Iran during Tuesday’s episode of InfoWars.
“This is horrifying,” Jones said. “I can’t sign on to covering up Epstein, I can’t sign on to World War Three.”
Jones went on to say that he had previously tried to “promote the optimism” of the Trump administration but was now a “realist.”
“It’s sad to see something you sacrificed…it’s sad to see something you fought and bled for die,” he said.
Fuentes said that he first donned a MAGA cap at 18 years old, during Trump’s 2016 campaign.
“That’s my whole adult life,” he added. “That’s a huge part of your life also, and now we’re witnessing its totally unravelling. It’s an utter and complete betrayal.”
Only one in four Americans supports Donald Trump’s airstrikes on Iran, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll. Meanwhile, 43 percent of respondents disapproved of the war, with 29 percent unsure.
Over half of those surveyed, 56 percent, said that the president was too quick to use military force to advance U.S. interests, following strikes in Syria, Venezuela and Nigeria.
