Man United set to receive financial boost from £100 tours of Carrington

Man Utd will offer fans the opportunity to take a tour of their Carrington training facilities for the first time during the summer.

Manchester United are close to selling out the first two dates for their £100 Carrington tour experience. United confirmed last year that they planned to offer fans the opportunity to tour their Carrington training complex.

The tours were initially pencilled in for three days, but another date has been added. United are close to selling out the tours on June 13 and June 20, though there is still availability on the other two dates.

United spent £50million to refurbish Carrington. Fans will get a glimpse of the swimming pool, cafeteria, recovery areas and press conference room, but photos will not be permitted. The club have sold the tour experience tickets at £100 for all age groups, with no concessions.

The experience will begin with a tour of Old Trafford and conclude with a tour of Carrington. United will provide coaches to ferry supporters between the stadium and the training ground.

The tours have been offered during the World Cup in North America – the final tour will take place on June 27. They will be across 15-minute intervals, with the first starting at 10am and the last at 2.45pm.

The club have confirmed no players will be on site during the Carrington tour dates.

United’s website reads: “Never before accessible to fans, you can now take a tour of our redesigned training ground, where our men’s first team players spend their time in the week whilst preparing for games.

“Enjoy a four-hour experience with a full Old Trafford stadium tour, before boarding your coach to Carrington training complex, where you’ll go behind the scenes to see how they prepare.”

When United announced the tours, they said: “For the first time ever, Manchester United is opening the gates to Carrington and allowing fans the ultimate glimpse behind the curtain.

“Our leading-edge training ground was reopened in August following an extensive renovation process that made it one of the world’s best sporting facilities. Supporters can follow in the footsteps of our squads and learn how players prepare for matchdays by enjoying an exclusive guided tour of Carrington.

“These unmissable training-ground experiences are due to take place during the off-season, and places are understandably limited. Priced at £100, the package will begin with an all-access tour of Old Trafford, including the dressing rooms, tunnel, museum and Megastore.

“Fans will then board a club coach to Carrington to see the inner sanctum of United’s day-to-day home. Supporters will visit the state-of-the-art dressing room, gym, swimming pools, recovery areas, press conference room, media studios and players’ lounge.

“As stated, places on our first-ever tours of Carrington are limited to please act quickly to avoid disappointment.”

United’s failure to qualify for European football has impacted revenue and Carrington tours will help to raise funds.
