Gibbs-White to Man United transfer link emerges amid McTominay update

Manchester United are already being linked with several potential new signings ahead of the summer transfer window

Manchester United have a few months to wait before the summer transfer window opens and they are able to strengthen their squad. Despite this, United are still being credited with an interest in several potential new signings at the end of the season.

Michael Carrick has enjoyed an impressive start to life as United’s interim head coach, having been given the job at Old Trafford until the end of the campaign.

It remains to be seen who will be United’s manager for the start of next season, with the uncertainty adding to the speculation about which players the club will target in the transfer market.

A lot will depend on whether or not United qualify for the Champions League, with the club currently in fourth place in the Premier League table after their 1-0 win over Everton on Monday night.

Morgan Gibbs-White claim

United have reportedly joined the race to sign Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White when the summer transfer window opens.

It has been reported by the Daily Mail that United are monitoring the Forest playmaker with a view to potentially making a move at the end of the season.

However, the report claims that United may have a problem trying to sign Gibbs-White, given the club apparently want to lower their wage bill in the months ahead.

Man City are mentioned in the report as also having an interest in Gibbs-White, while Tottenham Hotspur made an attempt to bring the 26-year-old to north London with a £60million move that fell through.

Scott McTominay stance

United are reportedly not in the running to re-sign their former midfielder Scott McTominay. Reports in recent weeks have speculated that the Reds have an interest in signing the Napoli star.

However, a report in TEAMtalk has claimed that United do not have an interest in bringing McTominay back to Old Trafford, and even goes so far as to say the possibility has not even been discussed within the club’s recruitment department.

There have been reports that McTominay is now valued at around £70m by Napoli just 18 months after joining the club from United.

McTominay left United in the summer of 2024 in a deal worth around £25m to join Napoli and helped the Italian club win the Serie A title in his first season.
