Manchester United vs Leeds United betting preview

Manchester United host Leeds United at Old Trafford on Monday night in a Premier League clash – here is all the team news, match preview and predictions

Following a 24-day hiatus, Manchester United resume their Premier League campaign on Monday evening, welcoming Leeds United to Old Trafford. United occupy third spot in the standings, seven points ahead of sixth-placed Chelsea, while Leeds find themselves in 15th position, three points above the drop zone.

A mixture of the international break, United’s absence from European competition and an early FA Cup elimination has meant the Red Devils have been without a fixture since their 2-2 stalemate away at Bournemouth on March 20. They spent time training in the Republic of Ireland last week to fine-tune their preparations for this encounter, and it will be fascinating to observe how swiftly they rediscover their rhythm following such an extended break.

United remain in a strong position to clinch Champions League qualification for 2026-27. Under caretaker manager Michael Carrick, they have recorded seven victories, two draws and one loss from 10 fixtures, leaving the 44 year old well placed to secure the role on a permanent basis.

The hosts can also draw encouragement from past results: they are unbeaten in their previous 18 home league fixtures against Leeds and have suffered defeat in just one of the last 20 league meetings between the clubs, triumphing in 12 of those contests.

Leeds, though, have demonstrated they can be tricky opposition of late, managing to avoid defeat in two of the previous three encounters – drawing 2-2 at Old Trafford in February 2023 and 1-1 at Elland Road earlier this campaign. Daniel Farke’s side find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle, having accumulated seven victories, 12 draws and 12 defeats from 31 fixtures. They are also FA Cup semi-finalists following their penalty shoot-out triumph over West Ham in last weekend’s quarter-final, and will take on Chelsea at Wembley on April 26 for a spot in the final.

In league action, Leeds have shared the spoils in their previous two encounters against Crystal Palace and Brentford, and haven’t tasted victory since defeating Nottingham Forest 3-1 in early February. Their away form has proved a significant worry: merely one triumph from 15 away league fixtures, alongside seven losses and 28 goals shipped.
