Man United injury news after Everton win with Martinez blow and Mbeumo concern
Manchester United secured another impressive win under Michael Carrick against Everton, but he may have several new injury blows to deal with
Michael Carrick could have a double Manchester United injury blow to contend with following the win over Everton. Benjamin Sesko scored the decisive goal midway through the second half to move Carrick’s side up to 48 points and in a strong position to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
United faced a late barrage from the Toffees but held firm to secure a third clean sheet in six with Senne Lammens superb in between the sticks. That achievement was made even more impressive due to the absence of Lisandro Martinez with Leny Yoro stepping in and impressing.
Noussair Mazraoui later came on for Bryan Mbeumo to help see out the triumph with some concerns over the latter as he hobbled off. Carrick has been rather fortunate with regard to injuries since taking over, but worries are starting to mount.
However, two United players on the injury list look set for returns very soon. With all of that being said, the Manchester Evening News has rounded up all there is to know about United’s injured stars and when they could return.

Lisandro Martinez
Carrick lost Martinez in the lead up to facing Everton with the United interim head coach admitting ahead of the clash that is does not look to be a serious issue.
What Carrick has said: “He picked up something during the week. It doesn’t seem too bad at all. We’re working through that at the moment. He’s not available tonight.”
Possible return date: March 4 – Newcastle (A) – Premier League
Bryan Mbeumo
Mbeumo was replaced by Noussair Mazraoui in 78th minute at Everton and hobbled off after being helped up from the floor by his teammates.
It looked to possibly be cramp, but it could be a slight issue for Mbeumo with his status remaining unknown until Carrick offers an update.
Patrick Dorgu
Dorgu suffered a muscular injury back in late January with Carrick confirming he would be absent for a number of weeks.
What Carrick has said: “Pat, unfortunately, he’s gonna be out for a period of time We’re still working through how long that’s going to be, so we’ll have to see. He’s disappointed, he’s had such a big couple of weeks.
“We weren’t sure whether it was a little bit of cramp or something a little bit more serious and at the moment it looks a little bit more on the serious note so it’ll be a few weeks for that, how many weeks we’ll have to wait and see.
“That’s disappointing for all of us, really. Pat was in such a good place, but unfortunately, it’s football, and it’s something we’ve got to work through and get him back as soon as we can.”
Potential return date: March/April
Mason Mount
Mount has missed the last month for United with Carrick regularly admitting in updates that he will be able to return soon.
What Carrick has said: “Mason [Mount] is getting closer, we have to be patient with him. We don’t want to rush anything, he is getting closer.
Potential return date: March 1 – Crystal Palace (H) – Premier League
Matthijs de Ligt
It is a similar story for De Ligt but the Netherlands international has missed nearly three months because of a back injury.
