Man threatened to kill person in a church after being asked to leave
He also performed an ‘indecent act’ in front of a woman at a bus stop
A man threatened to kill another man in a church and performed an indecent act in front of a woman at a bus stop. Mohammed El-Deihi, 34, first came to police attention in February 2025.
He had followed a woman on her morning walk through Hardwick, near Cambridge, and became aggressive when she asked him to stop. The following month, El-Deihi approached another woman who was out walking – shouting and swearing at her while blocking her path.
He had also been going to St Mary’s Church in Hardwick, where he would linger in doorways and block the exits. Local churchgoers asked him to stop coming to the church but he ignored them.
In June 2025, when El-Deihi was again asked to leave the church. He became agitated, moved very close to the victim, and shouted threats to kill him.
According to Cambridgeshire Police, a few months later, while barefoot and covered in mud, El-Deihi approached a woman waiting at a bus stop, telling her, “come with me, I want to show you things”. Despite the woman refusing and asking him to leave her alone, El-Deihi put his hands down his trousers and performed an indecent act.
He only stopped and ran away when a member of the public got out of their car to help the distressed victim. El-Deihi, of no known address, was jailed at Peterborough Crown Court on Thursday (February 26) for one year and 10 months.
He had admitted making threats to kill, two counts of using threatening/abusive words or behaviour to cause alarm or distress, outraging public decency, and failing to surrender to bail.
