Three people have been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods after a man was found carrying around 20 bottles of olive oil. Cambridgeshire Police said officers went to a car park in Dickens Street, Peterborough, on April 5 after a report that it was being used to sell suspected stolen goods.
According to Cambridgeshire Police, a man in his 30s was found carrying about 20 bottles of olive oil, several boxes of chocolates, and kitchen items. Following searches, more goods were found stored in his car and house. A woman in her 30s and a teenage boy were also arrested.
Traffic officers stopped a car nearby in Crawthorne Road due to information about it being used for thefts in other counties. A 33-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were arrested after suspected stolen goods were found in the vehicle.
Officers also visited Wellington Street car boot sale and gave a few stall holders advice about the items they were selling. No arrests or seizures were made on that occasion.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: “Our patrols of these areas and taking action through arrests and seizing goods will continue when we can.”
