Laval transit agency says shortage of parts will affect bus service

Laval’s transit agency is asking commuters to double-check their bus trips starting Tuesday because an “exceptional situation due to difficulties in its internal parts-supply chain and equipment management” means it does not have access to enough buses to offer full service.
The difficult winter weather — which includes
a potential ice storm coming Wednesday
— has only added to the problem.
“Trip cancellations are expected starting Tuesday,” the Société de transport de Laval said in
.
“This is the only possible decision under the circumstances, as we must act responsibly to prioritize the safety of our customers and employees. We are committed to proactively and transparently communicating the evolving situation to our customers,” said Josée Roy, STL general manager.
The STL says about 60 of its 2,500 daily bus trips will be cancelled — 39 during the morning rush hour and 23 in the afternoon rush hour, about a 2.6-per-cent service reduction overall that should affect about 1,980 clients.
A list of affected departures has been

To minimize disruption, the agency says it has prioritized trips that are less frequent, very busy, that connect with the first and last métro trains or are on school lines.
“These disruptions are expected to last for a minimum of four to eight weeks,” it says, adding it cannot guarantee accessible vehicles on accessible routes.
Weekend trips will not be affected by the disruption.
Transit users can verify their routes on
by calling customer service at 450-688-6520, texting their stop number to 511785, signing up for alerts in the
or using trip planners like Google Maps or Transit.
“Rest assured that our teams are working tirelessly to restore service as quickly as possible,” Roy said in the statement. “Needless to say, we will communicate a more precise schedule as soon as we have it. Our priority is to minimize the impact on our customers.”
