The American chapter of Israel’s largest animal welfare organization, Let The Animals Live USA (LTAL USA), today announced an emergency fundraising campaign seeking $136,000 to sustain rescue operations, provide urgent veterinary care, and ensure the physical safety of staff and volunteers operating under active crisis conditions.

Communities across Israel are facing ongoing conflict. Dogs and other animals have been abandoned, injured, and left with no means of survival. The organization, which operates 365 days a year, continues dispatching rescue teams even during active rocket alerts, often with only seconds of warning before sirens sound.

“While families are running to shelters and entire areas are under threat, animals are often forgotten,” said Fia Perera, U.S. Development Director of Let The Animals Live USA. “We refuse to let that happen. Even under rocket alerts and escalating security risks, our teams continue rescuing animals every single day. This campaign ensures they can keep doing so safely.”

Let The Animals Live is Israel’s largest animal welfare organization, operating at the intersection of animal rescue, veterinary care, and community support. Its U.S. nonprofit chapter, Let The Animals Live USA, raises funds to sustain operations in Israel, including emergency rescue, medical treatment, and shelter services.

Bar, featured in the main image of this article, was found wandering alone near an active conflict area, malnourished, injured, and clearly abandoned. With fostering and adoption rates near zero as families focused on their own safety, she had nowhere else to go. The organization stepped in, providing the emergency veterinary care and rehabilitation Bar needed to survive. Today, she is recovering at the organization’s shelter.

LTAL USA is currently the only organization in Israel willing to take responsibility for animals like Bar.

The organization’s $136,000 campaign supports four critical initiatives:

  • Emergency Resilience Fund — $40,000: Sustains emergency rescue operations in conflict areas, provides veterinary treatment for injured animals, and covers food and transportation logistics.

  • Adopt From Afar & Medical Treatment Program — $30,000: Funds veterinary surgeries, rehabilitation for traumatized animals, shelter care, and donor sponsorship updates connecting supporters with rescued animals.

  • Shelter Safe Room Construction — $21,000: Finances a reinforced concrete safe room (3.6m × 3.6m) inside the rescue shelter, complete with a security door, ventilation, and electrical infrastructure. Staff currently have only seconds to reach safety when alerts sound.

  • Emergency Boarding for Rescued Dogs — $45,000: Covers three months of external boarding (“dog pensions”) for rescued dogs as shelter capacity reaches maximum. Without these placements, rescue operations would be forced to stop.

  • $50,000 – Emergency Rescue Partner: Sustains the entire rescue operation through the duration of the conflict.

  • $25,000 – Shelter Safety Sponsor: Fully funds construction of the protective shelter safe room.

  • $10,000 – Rescue & Medical Sponsor: Supports life-saving veterinary care for rescued animals.

  • $5,000 – Emergency Rescue Supporter: Provides boarding and daily care for dogs rescued during the conflict.
