How to unlock Cloudcart in Crimson Desert
The Cloudcart is a hot air balloon in Crimson Desert that, without a doubt, gives you the best view of the land of Pywell. Once you unlock this, you’ll be able to summon a red and yellow hot air balloon that can be further upgraded via the Scholarstone Research. The positive side to this is that it’s not especially difficult to unlock, other than spending time, and progressing through your camp.
The downside is that the Cloudcart at this time, is bugged for most Crimson Desert players. It’s a known issue, so there is hope that it will be fixed soon, but for the time being, it just takes up space amongst your mounts. Here’s how you can unlock yours.
Steps to unlock your Cloudcart in Crimson Desert
Step 1: Unlock the Blueprints for the Cloudcart
One of the best parts about unlocking the Cloudcart mount in Crimson Desert is that you go to the location of the Blueprint as a part of the main story! During Chapter 3, when you start tracking down the Reed Devil, you’ll find yourself in Glenbright Manor. This is pretty easy to get, but you could also miss it if you aren’t being sneaky and taking stuff that doesn’t belong to you:

- Run up the stairs inside, and grab the Ruby-set Golden Dagger.
- Interact with the dresser to the huge crystal in this hallway.
- Activate the Handwheel that pops out. Make the light shine directly onto the huge crystal.
- This opens a secret next to the Handwheel. Grab the Sapphire-Set Golden Dagger.
- Go back downstairs to the painting of two horses. Push against it and you’ll go to a secret passage, where you can get the Glenbright Manor Basement Key.
Return to the main quest, until you’re in the room where you watch the Visione memory during the Nonhuman quest. There’s a huge fireplace in this room with two holes in it. Walk up to it, and shine your lantern on the holes, to get a prompt to push the daggers in.
Put both daggers in to get a secret passage! Down at the bottom, you’ll find the Cloudcart Blueprint in Crimson Desert, and after you read it, will give you access to making this.
You’ll also want to visit the Emberwind Workshop, shown on the map above. It should unlock when you finish with the Glenbright Manor, but you may also need to beat the Reed Devil first. Do make sure to stop by the Emberwind Workshop, so you can move on.
Step 2: Progress until you have an Engineer Greymane
Depending on how far you’ve progressed in your Greymane’s camp, you may already have at least one Engineer Greymane. That’s one of the requirements. Below are just a few of the Greymanes that have (or can unlock) the Engineer skill.

- Arnold
- Falstaff
- Terry (after leveling up some)
- Otto (after leveling up some)
You find them through doing the side quests for Marius in your base camp. Just focus on doing these, and upgrading your camp when required, until you have at least one of these characters in your camp.
Once you have minimum one Engineer, either hover over the Emberwind Workshop on the map via the Faction Tab, and select it to begin the craft Cloudcart mission in Crimson Desert. Otherwise, you can speak to Ross, and select Hernand, Emberwind Workshop. You’ll need the following camp resources:
- 75 stone
- 75 timber
- 150 food
- 2,500 money
- One Engineer (5 total Greymanes)
- Duration: 5 hours
Once this has wrapped up, you’ll be able to go to your mount menu (F1 on the Keyboard/Up on the D-Pad) and tab over until you see the Cloudcart. This should automatically summon the mount. However, at this time, it’s still bugged for us. You can also visit Scholarstone Research Center to upgrade your Cloudcart, to unlock other versions of this mount: The Cloudcruiser and Skystreaker.
